چکیده

Abstract Objective Headache is the predominant disabler in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). The aim was to characterise headache and investigate association with pressure. Methods IIH:WT a randomised controlled parallel group multicentre trial United Kingdom investigating weight management methods IIH. Participants active IIH (evidenced by papilloedema) body mass index (BMI) ≥35 kg/m 2 were recruited. At baseline, 12 months 24 characteristics quality of life outcome measures collected lumbar puncture measurements performed. Results Sixty-six women included mean age 32.0 years (SD ± 7.8), 43.9 7.0 . phenotype migraine-like 90%. severity correlated ICP at baseline ( r = 0.285; p 0.024); change monthly days 0.454, 0.001 0.419, 0.002 respectively). Cutaneous allodynia significantly months. 0.479, < 0.001). Boot strap analysis noted positive between enabled prediction both days. associated significant improvements (SF-36). Conclusions We demonstrate relationship cutaneous allodynia, which has not been previously reported Those greatest reduction over had frequency severity; this improvement measures. Trial registration This work provides Class IIa evidence raised pressure headache. ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT02124486

Migraine headache in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension

Migraine is a neurological disorder that afflicts many people in the world and can cause severe disability during the attacks. The pathophysiology of migraine is complex and not fully understood. It seems that migraine is common in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). However, the association between migraine headache and IIH is still unclear. The present study was conducted to assess th...

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension.

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is common in obese women and can lead to significant visual impairment. First described more than 100 years ago, the cause of the disorder remains unknown. Despite a multitude of proposed links, the aetiology has never been established. Impairment of cerebrospinal-fluid reabsorption is the most likely underlying pathophysiological cause of the raised pressur...

Then it was called Benign Intracranial Hypertension which we now know is far fr...
